The Youth Pastor’s Wife Podcast

Being a youth pastor’s wife is tough, isn’t it? You’re trying to balance ministry and family. You’re feeling the pressure to be perfect. You’re dealing with teenagers all the time. You’re trying to lead a small group. You’re struggling to find time to rest. You’re feeling overwhelmed, overlooked, and over-committed. Like I said, it’s a tough job. And on top of that, it can also feel lonely because being a youth pastor’s wife has a unique set of challenges compared to what other ministry wives might face. In this podcast, you will learn how to navigate those challenges that come with being a youth pastor’s wife and find the strength to keep showing up in your ministry and in your marriage. My goal is to help you find balance and fulfillment by giving you practical tools to invest in students, support your husband, and grow spiritually. If you’re ready to step into this incredible calling God has placed on your life, then this podcast is for you! Hey friend, I’m Kristen. I am a follower of Jesus, and of course, a youth pastor’s wife. I have learned firsthand that yes, serving students with your husband is super fun, but it can also be really challenging. Ministry is messy. Marriage has its ups and downs. And the expectations for a pastor’s wife aren’t exactly underwhelming. But I’m learning how to fully embrace this role God has given me as the youth pastor’s wife by discipling our students well, loving and supporting my husband in his role, and living by God’s standard for me rather than trying to be the “perfect pastor’s wife.” And I want to share all that I am learning with you so we can walk this journey together! That’s why I created this podcast! So if you want to learn how to live out your calling as you serve in student ministry, invest in your husband and your marriage, and say goodbye to people-pleasing and perfectionism, you’re in the right place! When your husband’s in ministry and his schedule is all over the place (what even is a weekend?), creating a routine can feel...laughable. Late nights, weekend events, last-minute texts that somehow turn into counseling sessions… yeah, it’s a whole thing. So how in the world are you supposed to build a routine when your life feels like a never-ending game of “what day is it again?”

In this episode, we’re chatting about what to do when your life doesn’t look like your 9-to-5 friends—and why that’s totally okay. I’ll share how Kevin and I have learned to make rhythms that actually fit our ministry life (instead of fighting it), plus a few things that have helped me stay sane in the chaos.

If you’ve ever felt like your routine is held together by dry shampoo and prayer—girl, you’re not alone. Let’s figure this out together!

Have you ever walked away from a youth night thinking, “Did that even matter?” Maybe you’ve shown up, served, supported your husband, stayed up late, cleaned up the mess—and still felt like no one noticed. If you’ve ever wondered if any of it is actually making a difference, this episode is for you.

I know what it’s like to feel tired, discouraged, and invisible in ministry. Today, I want to speak some truth over those doubts and remind you that just because you don’t see the impact doesn’t mean there isn’t one. Your faithfulness matters. Your presence matters. And God sees it all.

I hope this episode encourages you and meets you right where you are—because sometimes we just need someone to remind us we’re doing better than we think.

Let’s be real—youth camp is one of the most powerful, exhausting, overwhelming, and amazing things we get to be part of as youth pastors' wives. But if you’re already feeling stressed just thinking about packing, schedules, and the nonstop chaos, you’re not alone.

The good news? You don’t have to just survive camp—you can actually thrive in it.

In today’s episode, I’m sharing my top 10 practical (and spiritual) tips to help you show up prepared, peaceful, and maybe even slightly less sweaty. We’re talking about everything from setting expectations with your husband before the madness starts, to packing a “mom bag” that could rival a CVS aisle, to sneaking in a few quiet moments with Jesus (yes, it’s possible).

I’ll even tell you why earplugs might just be your new best friend—and why laughing at the chaos is one of the holiest things you can do.

So if you’re ready to feel more peaceful and less panicky about camp, grab your coffee and your snacks and let’s dive in!

When I first stepped into the role of a youth pastor’s wife, I was eager to be involved—but I kept hearing older pastors' wives say, “I’m not in ministry—he is.” And honestly? That really messed with me. It made me question what I felt like God was calling me to do.

In today’s episode, we’re talking about that tension—how to navigate the desire to serve together, what to do when other voices discourage you, and how to figure out your actual role in ministry without losing your mind (or yourself).

Whether you’re all-in, unsure, or somewhere in between, this one’s for you. Let’s talk about shared callings, setting healthy limits, and finding freedom in the middle of it all.

So grab your coffee and come hang out—I think this convo is going to encourage you big time.

Ministry is all about people… but what happens when one of those people just gets under your skin? Maybe you’ve tried to shake it off, stay polite, or even pray it away—but the tension is still there. If you’ve ever wondered, “What do I do when I don’t get along with someone on the team?”—this episode is for you.

We’re having a heart-to-heart about what it looks like to navigate tricky relationships in youth ministry. These situations aren’t easy, but they’re more common than we think. So if you’re feeling frustrated or unsure of your next step, you’re not the only one. Let’s talk about how to walk through it with wisdom, grace, and maybe even a little growth along the way.

Ever poured your heart into a student—showed up to their games, grabbed coffee with them, prayed for them like crazy—only to feel like...nothing’s changing? 🙃 It’s honestly one of the most discouraging parts of student ministry. In this episode, we’re talking about what it really means to invest in a student and why some of us are feeling drained and frustrated instead of fired up. I’m sharing a super simple (and totally helpful) framework to help you identify the students who are most likely to grow, thrive, and multiply your investment. Plus, a real-life story from my husband Kevin that might make you rethink who you’ve been pouring into.

Let’s talk about how to stop spinning our wheels and start seeing fruit in our ministry!
