The Youth Pastor’s Wife Podcast

Being a youth pastor’s wife is tough, isn’t it?

You’re trying to balance ministry and family. You’re feeling the pressure to be perfect. You’re dealing with teenagers all the time. You’re trying to lead a small group. You’re struggling to find time to rest. You’re feeling overwhelmed, overlooked, and over-committed.

Like I said, it’s a tough job. And on top of that, it can also feel lonely because being a youth pastor’s wife has a unique set of challenges compared to what other ministry wives might face.

In this podcast, you will learn how to navigate those challenges that come with being a youth pastor’s wife and find the strength to keep showing up in your ministry and in your marriage.

My goal is to help you find balance and fulfillment by giving you practical tools to invest in students, support your husband, and grow spiritually.

If you’re ready to step into this incredible calling God has placed on your life, then this podcast is for you!

Hey friend, I’m Kristen. I am a follower of Jesus, and of course, a youth pastor’s wife. I have learned firsthand that yes, serving students with your husband is super fun, but it can also be really challenging.

Ministry is messy. Marriage has its ups and downs. And the expectations for a pastor’s wife aren’t exactly underwhelming.

But I’m learning how to fully embrace this role God has given me as the youth pastor’s wife by discipling our students well, loving and supporting my husband in his role, and living by God’s standard for me rather than trying to be the “perfect pastor’s wife.”

And I want to share all that I am learning with you so we can walk this journey together! That’s why I created this podcast!

So if you want to learn how to live out your calling as you serve in student ministry, invest in your husband and your marriage, and say goodbye to people-pleasing and perfectionism, you’re in the right place!

Today I’m talking about what to do when your social battery is dead, but ministry keeps moving. I’m sharing 3 practical ways to protect your peace, communicate your limits without guilt, and build in time to breathe—without quitting everything and moving to a cabin in the middle of nowhere. 😅

If you've ever felt bad for needing space or struggled to balance people time with actual rest, this episode will remind you: you’re not broken. You’re just introverted—and God knew that when He called you.

My first year of being a youth pastor's wife wasn’t exactly smooth sailing. I came in with a lot of expectations, some pressure I put on myself, and a few assumptions that didn’t hold up in real life.

In this episode, I’m sharing five mistakes I made early on—some funny, some painful, all very real—because I know how lonely and confusing those first couple of years can feel. And if nothing else, at least you’ll walk away knowing you’re not the only one who’s tried to hold back tears in the church bathroom stall. (Just me?)

If you’re in your first year—or honestly, even your fifth—this one’s for you. I’ll share what I wish someone had told me early on, offer some encouragement, and remind you that struggling doesn’t disqualify you from ministry. (In fact, it just might be the thing God uses most.)

Ever led a small group where one person treats the discussion like their personal podcast? You ask a question, and suddenly you’re five tangents deep in their life story while the rest of the group mentally checks out. Yeah... we’re going there today.

In this episode, we’re diving into how to lovingly, graciously (and strategically) manage dominators in your small group without crushing their spirit or losing your mind. I’m sharing practical ways to redirect conversation, invite quieter voices to the table, and set healthy expectations so your group doesn’t feel like a one-person show.

Whether you’ve got a chronic over-sharer or just someone who means well but monopolizes every discussion, this one’s for you. By the end of this episode, you’ll have a few solid tools in your back pocket to keep the group focused, fruitful, and fun for everyone—not just the talker.

Ever feel like your house is one rogue sock away from total chaos? Same. Ministry weeks can feel like a full-time job on top of your actual full-time job… and somehow the laundry still wants to be washed and the people still want to eat.

In this quick, real-life episode, I’m sharing 7 simple habits that help me keep my home from totally unraveling when ministry life gets full (which, let’s be honest, is always). No matching throw pillows or color-coded chore charts required — just practical rhythms, grace for the undone, and a reminder that your house doesn’t have to be spotless to be peaceful.

If you’re craving a little more order and a little less overwhelm, press play. And maybe grab a frozen pizza while you’re at it.

Between youth group chaos, church events, and that one person who always needs “just five minutes” after service, being married in ministry can start to feel like a never-ending game of tag — and you're always “it.” If you've been craving more connection with your husband but aren’t sure where to start, this episode is for you.

I’m sharing 8 simple, no-pressure habits that have helped Kevin and me stay close in the middle of ministry life. We’re talking morning coffee, check-in walks, shared calendars (marriage magic, y’all), and a few other easy things that don’t require a retreat or a babysitter.

No guilt, no perfection — just practical rhythms you can start this week to feel more connected as a couple.

Let’s strengthen our marriages one small step at a time.

Let’s talk boundaries — the kind that keep you sane when your phone won’t stop buzzing, people keep asking for “just one more thing,” and social media makes you feel like you’re somehow not doing enough.

In today’s episode, I’m sharing 3 boundaries I’m learning to set without feeling guilty (okay… trying not to feel guilty). We’re talking about not answering every phone call like it’s an emergency, learning to say “no” without writing a three-paragraph apology, and refusing to let Instagram convince us that we’re behind in ministry or life.

If you’ve ever felt stretched too thin or like you’re failing just because you’re not doing all the things, this one’s for you.

Ever had one of those weeks where everything goes wrong right before a big youth event? Or maybe you’ve felt unusually disconnected from your husband, discouraged in your role, or just weighed down by something you can’t explain? Yeah… that might not be “just life.”

In this episode, we’re diving into the very real (but often overlooked) reality of spiritual warfare—what it is, how it shows up in our lives as youth pastors’ wives, and how we can recognize and respond to it with confidence in Christ.

I’m sharing personal stories, practical wisdom, and a whole lot of truth to help you stand strong when the enemy comes knocking. Because yes, you are a target—but you can also equip yourself for the battle.

Have you ever sat in a room full of people and still felt completely alone? Like you’re showing up week after week, supporting your husband, loving on students… but deep down, you feel invisible? Maybe you’ve cried in secret and thought, “I don’t even know who I can talk to about this.”

If that’s you — I’ve been there too. And this episode is for you.

We’re talking about what it feels like to be lonely in ministry and why it’s actually more common than we think. I’m sharing a piece of my story, reminding you of the truth that God sees you (even when no one else seems to), and offering a few simple ways to start moving toward connection again — without putting pressure on yourself to have it all figured out.

This one is real, honest, and hopefully just what your heart needs today. So grab your coffee (or hide in your car for a few minutes — no judgment), and let’s talk.
